Panel Discussion: ‘Things we can do in the North…’
Drinks from 6pm, talk at 7pm, Thursday 29 November, Whitworth Art Gallery, Oxford Road, Manchester
Join us to celebrate an exciting year and the complete bound edition of Issue 3 of Corridor8, with a new commission by artist Sarah Hardacre and a panel discussion chaired by the Director of the Whitworth Art Gallery and Manchester Art Galleries, Maria Balshaw.
The event will start with a drinks reception at 6pm with an opportunity to view a unique artwork by Sarah Hardacre, whose work was featured in Issue 3, Part 4, made in response to the Whitworth’s architecture. Sarah Hardacre is a Salford-based artist who creates collages using found and archival material.
The panel discussion will start at 7pm, with Maria Balshaw chairing a panel of speakers drawn from the different sectors of the visual arts interviewed in Issue 3. Panelists are artist Ian Rawlinson, Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University; Kerry Harker, Co-Founder and Co-Director of Project Space Leeds and Miles Thurlow and Paul Moss, Directors of Workplace Gallery. Taking their starting point from what’s made possible, and even made better by being based in Manchester, Leeds or Newcastle, the panel will discuss what’s to celebrate and what’s still to come for the visual arts in the North of England.
The complete bound edition of Issue 3 will be available to buy. Brought together in a special Dust designed binder, it’s free to subscribers, or can be purchased on the night for a specially discounted price.
