A new experimental writing group from Art Network North East and Corridor8 in partnership with Baltic’s Artist Development Programme.

Are you an artist, a writer, an art writer, looking for a space to create experimental art writing? Fancy experimenting with new forms and processes? Do you want to share your work with a group, get some feedback, and hear new ideas?

Lesley Guy (Regional Editor for Corridor8 and co-editor of new press Potato) leads six monthly sessions designed to inspire new ways of writing art. Beginning with writing about art, the series moves onto exploring writing as an art form in itself.

This is a six-part event which is recommended for people at all stages of their career.

Lesley Guy is an artist, writer and educator based in Newcastle. She graduated with an MA in Contemporary Fine Art from Sheffield Hallam University in 2010 and has exhibited across Europe, Asia and the UK. Guy has written for a range of publications including the Metro and Corridor8 and worked as Content Curator for Axisweb.org, commissioning and editing a range of articles and texts. She was a Co-Director of Bloc Projects, an artist-run space in Sheffield from 2009 – 2014 and worked on the Art Sheffield city wide festival on the marketing and curatorial panels in that time. She is currently the regional editor for Northumberland, County Durham and Tyne and Wear at Corridor8 and alongside Kate Liston and Tom O’Sullivan, she is co-editor at Potato Press, an experimental art press at Northumbria University.

Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art‘s Artist Development Programme aims to offer learning and developmental support for artists and curators to navigate their careers in a complex cultural landscape. This programme explores free practical advice sessions and introductions to a range of topics including a focus on budgeting for exhibitions and commissions, studio visit and best practice.

If you have any accessibility requests or questions, please email Baltic directly.

Light refreshments and spare materials will be provided for this event, but we recommend bringing a notepad and writing equipment.
